This season our Hockey Teams are County Champions at U12, U13, U14 and U18! Well done to all the players and coaches.

County Hockey Champions

The Senior hockey team were successful this afternoon at the U18 County Tournament.  It was disappointing to only see 3 teams there, but they were the strongest 3 teams, so competition was good.  In the first match, Liverpool College faced Merchant Taylors.  It was a closely fought match with chances at either end.  There were some excellent link up play between Lydia W, Kirsten B and Eva B but we could not convert our chances.  We came close with a penalty corner from Orla N, but failed to convert.  Jasmine P was excellent in goal, preventing Merchant Taylors from scoring and the game finished 0-0.

Merchant Taylors then played St Edwards and the match finished 1-1, meaning that a win against St Edwards would be enough for Liverpool College to win the tournament.  The girls started the match superbly and went ahead with an early goal from Emily A.  Emily scored again soon after putting us in a comfortable position at half time.  However, as expected, St Edwards came out fighting in the second half and got an early return goal, making the match a little tense.  Once more, some excellent forward play from Lydia, Kirsten and Eva put pressure on the St Edwards defence and we won a penalty corner.  Eva struck the corner cleanly and although the keeper stopped the shot, Hannah was there to slot the ball into the goal.  The match finished 3-1 and Liverpool College are U18 County Champions.

Following the tournament, the team celebrated their victory with pizza where Orla gave some awards as Captain.  Player of the tournament was Lydia, Top Goalscorer for the Season Eva and Player of the Season was Kirsten. It was a lovely end of the school hockey careers of the 7 Year 13s who are leaving us this year:   Orla, Jasmine, Hannah, Emily, Jess, Natalie and Eva.
