Dr Who Author visits Liverpool College

On Wednesday, Mr William Gallagher visited Liverpool College to talk to all the students about his careers as a writer. Mr Gallagher is the author of Doctor Who dramas, writing dramas for previous Doctors Colin Baker and Peter Davison. William has also written and shot videos for Radio Times with David Tennant and produced films about Torchwood and Strictly Come Dancing. He has also written for ITV’s Crossroads plus the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and is Deputy chair of the Writers Guild. He is also a journalist.

Mr Gallagher shared his extremely inspirational story with the students: William told a careers teacher at school how he wanted to be a writer and was laughed at, which led to him totally abandoning his dream for nearly 20 years. Mr Gallagher, now a highly accomplished author, has set a personal mission to try to empower students across the country to follow their dreams and to realise that writing can ignite them throughout their lives. Impressively, Mr Gallagher invited any student interested in becoming a writer to come and spend the lunchtime with him so he could advise them on achieving their goal. Our sincere thanks to Mr Gallagher for his highly motivational and inspiration message – Have faith in yourself, follow your passions and never give up on you dreams!
