An Unbeaten Morning of Sport for Liverpool College

Last Saturday, over one hundred Liverpool College pupils were again involved in Saturday sport.

Whilst the Year 7 and 8 girls entertained Birkenhead School at Hockey, the Y7 and 1st XI Football teams entertained Queen Elizabeth Grammar School from Blackburn. There were also three other year groups in action as the Y8 Y9 Y10 Football teams travelled away to play our hosts from Blackburn.

On a sunny morning, the Hockey was the first sport to start, and there were many cheers from the Liverpool College pupils and families that could be heard on the football fields as the goals kept flying in. The College were the triumphant winners in both Y7 and Y8 matches.

Next it was the turn of the U12s and 1st XI football teams. The U12s have made an unbeaten start to the term and this match proved to be their most difficult opposition so far. The College started brightly and dominated early proceedings and were rewarded for that dominance through a goal from Lorik L. Eventually, the visitors grew into the game and it needed two stunning saves from Y6 goalkeeper Layton N to keep QEGS from equalizing. As the game drifted into the final fifteen minutes and the scores locked at 1-1, the College found their thrust which they had in abundance earlier on in the match and within two minutes the College had scored two quick fire goals through Lorik L and Joshua B to make it 3-1. A mistake at the back meant QEGS pulled one back, but it was not enough to stop the U12s make it five matches unbeaten this term. As the boys walked back to the Pavilion the news was that the 1st XI had recorded their third win of the term winning by one goal to nil.

A quick phone call to the Liverpool College staff at Blackburn delivered the news that all Liverpool College teams were also the victors on their travels.

An excellent morning of sport for Liverpool College and an unbeaten one.
