ADMISSIONS POLICY 2021

A variation to our admissions policy for September 2021 has been approved.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting public health protective measures, we have removed the requirement for applicants for Year 7 entry in September 2021 to sit a fair banding test. Section 5 (Year 7 Arrangements) of the Admission Policy for September 2021 entry has therefore been updated to reflect this necessary change in arrangements.

You can download the amended admissions policy for September 2021 entry here.

No Banding Test

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are removing the requirement for applicants for Year 7 entry in September 2021 to sit our fair banding test.

Places will be allocated using the published oversubscription criteria (rather than the oversubscription criteria being applied within the ability bands).

Next Steps for Applying

Parents therefore no longer need to complete an online supplementary Liverpool College application form (used to register for the banding test).

Applications for places in Year 7 in September 2021 at Liverpool College should be made to the home local authority using the Preference Form (Common Application Form). The national closing date for applications is 31st October 2020 and applications can be made from 12th September. Liverpool City Council have now extended their closing date for applications to 7th November 2020.

Musical Aptitude Test

As we will still allocate 10% of the published admissions number (9 places) based on musical aptitude, we will be holding our musical aptitude test (but with some adjustments to practical arrangements to comply with protective health measures).  The first part of the Musical Aptitude Test took place on Saturday 17th October and the top 30 children from that test have been invited to take the second part of the test on Tuesday 27th October 2020.

Sixth Form Entry 2021

Applications by external applicants for Sixth Form places can now be made online HERE

To download the Sixth Form Information Booklet 2021 please click HERE

Your choice of Sixth Form is an important one. There are many options and you should consider not only which subjects but also which environment and ethos will suit you best.  At Liverpool College we are convinced that students are best served by a broad Sixth Form experience. For this reason, we expand the classroom to include leadership education, competitive sports, extensive artistic and cultural opportunities, travel and a broad programme of learning activities outside of the academic subjects studied.

INTERNAL APPLICANTS

Pupils in our own year 11 will begin the application process in January following the publication of their mock exam results.  This will start with all internal applicants completing an online application and options form. Our own year 11 pupils will also be offered a course discussion to see which subjects will suit them best in terms of their aptitude, interests and higher education and career plans.

EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

We welcome applications from external applicants for Sixth Form places at Liverpool College.

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO APPLY

External applicants will be offered a course discussion during the Spring Term. The purpose of these course discussions is to help you to decide which combination of subjects will suit you best. We will keep in regular contact with all applicants to let you know the next steps.

Sadly Covid-19 has meant that we do not yet know whether Open Evenings and visits will be possible but we will publish regular updates on this page to let you know.

For further information about subject options and entry criteria please use the Curriculum section of the Sixth Form website and also the Sixth Form Information booklet. Offers of places will be conditional upon entry requiremetns being achieved. There will also be a Taster Day for all those who receive conditional offers and this will take place after GCSE exams.

IN YEAR Applications

In Year applications are when parents apply for their child to transfer from one school to another in year groups other than Reception, Year 7 and Sixth Form.

The procedures are as follows:

Years 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 : There are currently no places avaiable in any of these year groups but you can complete a 2020-2021 Waiting List Registration Form so that your child can be added to the waiting list for the current academic year (2020-2021). Each waiting list only lasts for the duration of the academic year. If you wish to add your child to the waiting list for the next academic year (2021-2022) you will need to complete the 2021 - 2022 Waiting List Registration Form which can be downloaded here

Years 8, 9 & 10  :  If your child is currently on roll at a Liverpool School you should ask their school to contact Liverpool College to discuss a potential transfer.  It is very rare that there will be a place available and if we are unable to offer a place you will be able to add your child to our waiting list.  If you have recently moved into the city or transport to the child's current school is no longer practical you should make an application at www.liverpoool.gov.uk/admissions  under the In Year Transfers tab.  The Local Authority will coordinate information regarding the in year transfer.

Parents have the right to appeal against an admission authority's decision refusing their child admission to a school under section 94(I)(b) and (2) of the 1998 Act.  If you wish to submit an appeal you should contact Sally Loveridge (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or 0151 724 1611 to request a form. You should submit this form by the stated closing date clearly setting out the reasons for your appeal.  You may include any letters, correspondence, written reports or documents that support your case. Prior to your appeal hearing you will receive a written statement from Liverpool College advising you how the admissions policy was applied in your case, and a general statement explaining the implications for the school of admitting pupils over roll.  At this stage we can confirm that Liverpool College received 1708 applications for the 145 places in Year 7 and 593 applications for 84 places in Reception. If you have any questions about the admission policy or how places are allocated please contact Sally Loveridge and she will be happy to advise you.  The Government also offer advice on their website : https://www.gov.uk/schools-admissions/appealing-a-schools-decision.
