RECEPTION ENTRY 2022

You will hear from Liverpool City Council (or your local authority) on Tuesday 19th April which school your child has been allocated for Reception in September 2022. If you have any questions after that date you should email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will try to respond to you within two working days. However, please note that school is closed until Monday 25th April so it may not be possible to answer your query until that time.

We are aware that many families will not receive a place in their preferred schools due to the number of applications and we understand the frustration and disappointment that this may cause. This year 584 families listed Liverpool College as one of their preferences and as there are only 84 places in Reception we have carefully followed the over subscription criteria of the Admission Policy. The places allocated  in line with the oversubscription criteria are as follows:

Education Health Care Plan = 1

Free School Meal places = 5

Previously looked after or looked after children = 9

Children of staff members who have been employed at Liverpool College for minimum of two years = 2

Children who have a brother or sister at Liverpool College = 50

This left 17 places to be allocated using random allocation. At the time of the random allocation there were 517 children on the list. 9 places were randomly allocated to children who live within 2 miles of the school and 8 places to children from any distance both within and outside a 2 mile distance.

We hope that this explanation is helpful but if you have any questions please get in touch. Should you wish to submit an Admission Appeal to an Independent Panel please email us to request paperwork which will be sent out when school reopens.

We produced an Admissions Information Booklet which we hope will answer many of your questions. Please click here to download.  If you would like a paper copy please contact us to request one.

OPEN EVENING

Our Sixth Form Open Evening will be held on WEDNESDAY 2nd FEBRUARY from 4.30 to 6.30pm:

We look forward to meeting you and showing you round the College. Please come to the main entrance which is on North Mossley Hill Road where guides will meet you. You don't need to attend for the full two hours but should allow at least an hour for your visit and arrive by 5.30pm at the latest. During the evening there will be chance to visit the subject areas you are interested in and you will also have the opportunity to talk to staff and students about life in the Sixth Form at Liverpool College.  There is no need to book for the open evening but if you have any queries please contact Sally Loveridge by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Your choice of Sixth Form is an important one. There are many options and you should consider not only which subjects but also which environment and ethos will suit you best.  At Liverpool College we are convinced that students are best served by a broad Sixth Form experience. For this reason, we expand the classroom to include leadership education, competitive sports, extensive artistic and cultural opportunities, travel and a broad programme of Personal Development alongside the academic subjects studied.

INTERNAL APPLICANTS

Pupils in our own year 11 will begin the application process in January following the publication of their mock exam results.  This will start with completing an online application and options form. Our own year 11 pupils will also be offered a discussion with Mrs Drew to see which subjects will suit them best.

EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

We welcome all interest from external applicants for Sixth Form places at Liverpool College and online applications were received until 14th March 2022. The onlline system is now closed but if you contact us once you have your GCSE results we will be able to tell you whether we are able to accept late applications at that point.

Mr Griffth, Head of Sixth Form has sent an email to all applicants asking for completion of a form to confirm options and providing the Option Blocks. The form should be completed by Thursday 31st March 2022. Any queries please contact Sally Loveridge This email address is being protected from spambots. IN YEAR Applications

In Year applications are when parents apply for their child to transfer from one school to another in year groups other than Reception, Year 7 and Sixth Form.

The procedures are as follows:

Years 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 : There are currently no places available in any of these year groups. If you wish to add your child to the waiting list for the next academic year (2022-2023) you will need to complete the 2022 - 2023 Waiting List Registration Form which can be downloaded here.  Each waiting list only lasts for the duration of the academic year and if the situation doesn't change you will need to complete a new form for 2023-2024. These forms will be posted here from 1st May 2023.

Years 8, 9 & 10  :  If your child is currently on roll at a Liverpool School you should ask their school to contact Liverpool College to discuss a potential transfer.  It is very rare that there will be a place available and if we are unable to offer a place you will be able to add your child to our waiting list.  If you have recently moved into the city or transport to the child's current school is no longer practical you should make an application at www.liverpoool.gov.uk/admissions  under the In Year Transfers tab.  The Local Authority will coordinate information regarding the in year transfer.

We appreciate that with the large number of applications to the school there will be many children who are disappointed not to be allocated a place. We had 1465 applications for the 171 places and have applied the Admission Policy which states clearly how applications are dealt with. Please see the Admission Information Booklet here for a reminder of how places are allocated.

Parents have the right to appeal against an admission authority's decision refusing their child admission to a school under section 94(I)(b) and (2) of the 1998 Act.  If you wish to submit an appeal you should contact Sally Loveridge (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or 0151 724 4000 ext 3228 to request a form. You should submit this form by the stated deadline clearly setting out the reasons for your appeal.  You may include any letters, correspondence, written reports or documents that support your case.

Prior to your appeal hearing you will receive a written statement from Liverpool College advising you how the admissions policy was applied in your case, and a general statement explaining the implications for the school of admitting pupils over roll.  If you have any questions about the admission policy or how places are allocated please contact Sally Loveridge and she will be happy to advise you.  The Government also offer advice on their website : https://www.gov.uk/schools-admissions/appealing-a-schools-decision.

YEAR 7 ADMISSION APPEAL TIMETABLE:

  • Tuesday 1 March 2022 - parents will hear from their local authority regarding the school allocated to their child.
  • Wednesday 6 April 2022 - deadline for submitting your appeal to Liverpool College.
