Prep School Forensics Workshop

All pupils from Y3 and Y5 were given the opportunity to work as real detectives on Tuesday when they participated in a forensics workshop.

The pupils were given a demonstration about how science works in the real world. As they came into the Prep School, they were faced with crime tape. The school dog had been dognapped!

Fortunately, the perpetrator of the crime had left behind some clues. The pupils had to practise their science and investigative skills in a real life context - observing, exploring and asking questions - to piece together the evidence. Clues and evidence were identified, collected, interpreted and analysed. These include fingerprints, impressions, hairs and fibres and 'blood', bones and DNA. The pupils were highly engaged in the task and learnt a great deal about the real life work of forensic scientists. Well done Prep detectives. Our thanks to Mrs Doran for organising the event and to the Wilton Trust for their financial help that made the workshop possible.
