GCSE Results 2026
Congratulations to this year’s GCSE students who are celebrating an excellent set of results, both individually and collectively. Amongst the many individual successes and impressive achievements, a special recognition must go to Alisha S, Uzair A, and Ethan F who each averaged a grade 9 across all their 10 GCSEs subjects. Indeed, an impressive total of 26 pupils earned an additional 10th GCSE grade this year, six of whom averaged at least a grade 8 in each of their 10 GCSE subjects.
The class of 2026, who were unable to sit their Year 6 SATs and missed much of their early years in the senior phase due to the pandemic, deserve particular congratulations for their resilience and fortitude in achieving these excellent results despite these challenges.
In terms of the overall GCSE cohort, impressively over a quarter of all pupils attained the top grades of a grade 7 and above, with 16% at the very top grades, well above emerging national figures and nearly 10% above figures for the North West as a whole. Indeed, Liverpool College’s 2026 GCSE pass rate of 82% grade 4 or above is significantly above the 66% of their peers for all state schools nationally. This is particularly the case with English and Maths results where our pass rates exceeded national figures by over 20%. Subjects that performed particularly well this year were English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and BTEC IT.
In terms of groups of pupils, we are delighted with the results of our SEND pupils, with our 14 EHCP pupils, a particular focus group for the College this year, attaining on average nearly half a grade higher than their peers in 2025. Our twenty-seven EAL (English as an Additional Language) pupils outperformed their native English-speaking peers and in addition, our economically disadvantaged pupils attained an average of a grade 4. Girls once again outperformed their male counterparts, reflecting the national picture.
Congratulations to all our students for their very well-earned GCSE results. These results mean that the vast majority of our pupils are able to progress into the next phase of their education at an institution of their choice, with over 67% choosing to remain at Liverpool College to join our thriving Sixth Form cohort for September 2026. We wish all our GCSE pupils of 2026 all the very best for their future successes.
