Year 8 Wilton Scholars Masterclass

On Tuesday Year 8 Wilton Scholars were given a masterclass DNA extraction. Using extractions liquid and ethonol, students were taught how to extract the DNA of a strawberry. They were taught how the shampoo helps to dissolve the cell membranes and how salt added to this breaks up protein chains that hold nuclear acids and releasing DNA strands. Our thanks to Miss Shaw and Mrs Robbin for delivering the superb workshop during their lunch hour. Students described the session as "Incredible and "immensely interesting".
