Seven goal win ensures the Chapter 8 team are back to winning ways

Last Saturday, the Chapter 8 football team made the trip to Sandbach School. Having previously conceded two late goals in the previous match to draw 4-4, the boys were keen to make amends. There had been two hard working training sessions during the week to prepare for this match and a few changes made to the starting line-up. The team had been spoken to during the week about the importance of been prepared off the pitch, therefore, all turned up on time 8.00am sharp, dressed immaculately in blazer, collar and tie and were keen to impress.

The training sessions paid off as the boys put in a hard-working performance, pressing their opposition throughout into making mistakes. The 7-0 score line suggests it was very one sided and that was only because of the hard work, resilience, and determination of the team. A mention must go to centre back Archie M and right back Phil H who stepped into the starting line-up and impressed throughout the match.

Hale Lighthouse

The boarders requested more walks for their weekend activity. They went to Hale Lighthouse on Saturday 5 March. It was a lovely day for a walk along the River Mersey. They also saw the statue of John Middleton, the 'Childe of Hale'. John was reported to be 9 feet 3 inches tall. Legend tells that he slept with his feet out of the window of his small house.

Windy Day at 'Another place'

The full-time boarders visited Anthony Gormley's 'Another place' at the end of last half term.  It was very windy but they warmed up with a hot chocolate and a crepe on the beach. The boys loved playing in the sand running up and down the sand dunes.

Y9 football team win thriller at Scarisbrick Hall School

Last Saturday, a much-improved performance saw the Y9 football team beat Scarisbrick Hall School. The team have improved with their togetherness and a show of resilience, and this has been evident in results. The match was won with the final touch of the match, a header! from attacking midfielder Tom P. There was much to celebrate on the journey home and the singing of pupils would have delighted their music teacher. An excellent morning of sport.

Chapter 8 Football team enjoy a day at the Oratory School, Oxfordshire

Last Friday, a group of Chapter 8 pupils travelled on an early morning bus enroute to the Oratory School, Oxfordshire. This was an invitation to the school, after the Oratory had previously visited Liverpool in January. The boys were treated to a lesson of Real Tennis with five times world champion Claire Fahey. This was a new sport to the boys, and they really took to it with excitement every time a point was won. Following the tennis, the boys enjoyed a football match on the grounds of the Prep School Boarding Grounds. Finally, fish and chips were served up for 16 very hungry pupils. An excellent day and a wonderful link which we hope to build upon.
